AMS-pelvic-mesh-lawsuitA Florida woman recently filed an AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit against pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, alleging the device caused permanent injuries.

The injured plaintiff, Barbara M., was implanted with the AMS pelvic mesh system in July 2006. Much later, in April 2014, the plaintiff was implanted with further pelvic mesh products from Ethicon and Bard.

These pelvic mesh products were used to treat various problems, including stress urinary incontinence, symptomatic prolapse, and fecal incontinence.

However, after being implanted with these products, Barbara has suffered from serious permanent injury, as well as pain, suffering, and physical deformity, her AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit alleges.

As a result of the implantation of these products, she has been forced to undergo vaginal mesh revision surgery to help reverse the effects of the damage. The AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit also claims that, because of these injuries, Barbara and her family have suffered financial losses due to medical bills and lost wages.

Because of these injuries, the plaintiffs chose to file an AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit against the manufacturers of these products. The companies targeted in the lawsuit are Johnson & Johnson, Ethicon, Inc., American Medical Systems, Inc., and C.R. Bard, Inc.

According to the AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit, these pelvic mesh devices were marketed by their manufacturers as safe and effective. However, the lawsuit claims that these assurances were simply marketing techniques to cover up high failure, injury, and complications rates associated with these pelvic mesh products.

The lawsuit states that these products “have caused severe and irreversible injuries, conditions, and damage to a significant number of women, including the Plaintiff.”

The AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit claims that the defendants chose to underreport and even actively withhold information about the failure rate of their products, placing company profit over consumer safety.

The plaintiff’s AMS pelvic mesh lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including failure to warn, strict liability, negligence, negligent misrepresentation, negligent infliction of emotional distress, breach of express and implied warranties, violation of consumer protection laws, and punitive damages, among several others.

Pelvic Mesh Complications

According to pelvic mesh failure lawsuits like this one, women are facing a number of serious complications. The complications reported by women so far include, but are not limited to:
