Air France Class Action Lawsuit Alleges Deceptive Marketing for Premium Economy SeatsMany airline customers, when they fly, fly long, international flights. Either for work or pleasure, long air travel can be uncomfortable and some would say, torturous.

Some airlines offer a better option than their standard economy travel tickets. Air France, for example, offers a type of seat called Air France Premium Economy. However, many customer are saying that with Premium Economy, Air France is not delivering what they have promised in their ads.

This is why some passengers have filed an Air France class action lawsuit to hold the airline accountable for charging more money for, what some customers call, more uncomfortable seats than they would have gotten if they’d flown economy.

Air France Premium Economy Claims

One lead plaintiff, in a new Air France class action lawsuit, claims that Air France promised certain things that were never delivered. According to the Air France class action lawsuit, customers pay a higher rate for a ticket in what they call Premium Economy.

Premium Economy, according to the Air France website, is “equipped with a large and relaxing seat,” and “the Premium Economy seat gives you 40% more space compared to the Economy cabin as well as multiple storage areas.”

Additionally, “The seat reclines within a fixed area to ensure your personal space and comfort for all. For your ultimate well-being, your headrest, foot-rest and leg-rest adapt perfectly to the contours of your body.” Air France says that their cabin of seats in Premium Economy “allows you to travel in perfect serenity.”

However, customers claim that this is far from the truth. Customers claim that not only they have very uncomfortable flying experiences, but that the promise of 40 percent extra room is simply not true.

The lead plaintiff in this Air France class action lawsuit alleges, “The seat pitch for [Air France] “Economy”, class is 32 inches while the seat pitch for “Premium Economy” seat is merely 38 inches. The width of the economy seat is 17 inches while the Premium Economy seat is only two (2) inches more.”

Customer complaints that have been gathered for this Air France class action lawsuit center around the same ideas. In this Air France class action lawsuit, customers say that they could not adjust the seat to lay back, that they did not feel like they got more room than economy, that their plane ride was actually more uncomfortable than when riding economy, and that there was not any more leg room.

Air France often takes long, international flights, and when customers must endure these conditions for 8 to 12 hours or more, especially when paying extra for what they thought was going to be an upgrade, they believe they have a right to be compensated.
