New Car Class Action Settlement

By Mike Holter

car dealershipWe have a HUGE class action settlement closing soon that could result in a very large amount of cash to almost anyone who purchased a new car between 2001 and 2003. It also includes fleet purchasers of new cars during this period. All you have to do is submit a claim form by February 1, 2011. No proof of purchase required to submit your claim!

The settlement we’re talking about is the Canadian Export Antitrust (CADA) class action lawsuit settlement. This is one of those mystery class action settlements where you won’t know how much money you’ll receive until the end of the claims filing period because it depends on the make, model and year of your car as well as the number of claimants, but we hear it could be HUGE. The award is likely at least $50, but we just got wind that many people haven’t filed claims for it yet because people don’t know who qualifies for a cash settlement and how easy it is to submit a claim. That means the award could potentially be MUCH MUCH MORE. Fleet purchasers stand to receive even more — hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars!

Best of all, the claims filing process for the Canadian Export Antitrust settlement is super easy. All you have to do is include your contact information, your address when you purchased the car, along with the Year, Make, Model and Dealer of where you purchased the car. That’s it! At this time no proof of purchase is required to submit a claim. Fleet purchasers submitting a claim for a lot of cars, however, will probably be required to provide proof.

To claim your cash money from the Canadian Export Antitrust CADA class action lawsuit settlement, you must meet the following requirements:

(I) You purchased or leased a new motor vehicle (passenger car, light truck or SUV) during the period January 1, 2001 to April 30, 2003;

(II) You currently reside or have your principal place of business in the United States; and

(III) At the time you purchased or leased the new vehicle, you resided or had your principal place of business in one of the following “Eligible States”: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia or Wisconsin;

(IV) You purchased or leased the vehicle from an auto dealer located in an Eligible State; and

(V) The vehicle you purchased or leased was one of the following makes: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes, Mercury, Mini, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Toyota, Volkswagen or Volvo.

Basically, just about anyone who purchased a new car between 2001 and 2003 that wasn’t a luxury car like a Lamborghini or Aston Martin is included in the CADA class action settlement, as long as you purchased or leased in one of the Eligible States listed above.

All you have to do is submit an online claim form at the Settlement Administrator’s website www.CanadianExportAntitrust.com no later than February 1, 20011. It’s super easy. DON’T MISS OUT on the potential to get a HUGE check in the mail!

    Our daughter purchased two Toyotas within that time frame. However, she was never sent notification of this settlement. She had moved to Chicago by the fall of 2010, so wasn’t aware of this. Since that filing deadline is past, who do we contact to see if she can legally file a claim since she wasn’t notified of this?
