The morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001 forever changed America. That day, a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks were led by al-Qaeda against the United States. With two planes crashing into the World Trade Center, 2,753 people were killed.

To this day, 16 years later, thousands of people continue to suffer illnesses following their exposure of cancer-causing toxins despite an eight-month cleanup period following 9/11. People continue to succumb to illnesses linked to toxins released at Ground Zero that cause their development of cancer and other health problems and side effects. Toxins include burned jet fuel, asbestos, and aluminum.

To help aide cancer victims who developed their diagnoses following the attacks on the World Trade Center, the federal government set up the 9/11 cancer fund. Substantial cash payouts have already compensated 9/11 cancer victims.

The 9/11 cancer fund offers victims tax-free financial compensation. Compensation may help aide with lost earnings, past and future medical expenses, and paid and suffering.

The payout may also cover funeral expenses, cash death benefit, lost earnings, and compensation for children and surviving spouses left behind. The 9/11 cancer fund may fully compensate for the wrongful death of a loved one who died because of exposure to 9/11 cancer-toxins.

Although closed out in 2004, the 9/11 cancer fund was reactivated on Jan. 2, 2011. A bill was also signed by President Obama leaving the 9/11 cancer fund open until 2020.

Navigating the complex and burdensome paperwork and strict deadlines to participate in the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund can be difficult. An experienced 9/11 Victim Fund attorney can help and ensure you get the maximum compensation available.

If you were present near Ground Zero, generally considered to be Lower Manhattan below Canal Street, between September 11, 2001 and May 31, 2002, and were diagnosed with cancer 4 years or more after exposure (or 1 year or more for blood and bone cancers), you may qualify for compensation.
