More women are seeking out their options for Essure removal after learning that the permanent birth control device has been associated with a number of serious or even life-threatening side effects. Having Essure removed might be the only way for a woman who has suffered from these symptoms and side effects to receive a break and be able to move on with her life.
Many of the women who are looking into their options for Essure removal say that the manufacturer is responsible for failing to notify them about the serious risks of using this birth control device and that women were left to suffer the consequences on their own.
Some women, for example, are seeking out Essure removal because they have experienced serious blood clots and pain in their abdomen. Thousands of women have reported problems like heavy and endless bleeding, debilitating and chronic pain and more. Pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding are two of the most common side effects reported by women looking into Essure removal.
The years of suffering from these symptoms can take a toll on women. Many of those women are exploring Essure removal as a way to stop the pain. Unfortunately, many women have had to undergo a hysterectomy to get their Essure implants removed.
The Essure birth control device was marketed as an outpatient and quick alternative to sterilization when compared with traditional tube tying. The manufacturer of the device still argues that Essure is safe despite that fact that women have had to explore their options for Essure removal.
One Facebook group called Essure Problems has more than 41,000 women inside sharing their stories that they’ve experienced with the two metal coils in the device. Those two metal coils are permanently inserted into the patient’s fallopian tubes but have been linked to thousands of lawsuits in which the side effects are named.
These women say that the manufacturer did not adequately warn them about these issues prior to the receipt of the device and left the women to suffer the consequences despite the known impact of the issues.
Originally, Essure was approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a non-invasive permanent sterilization method in 2002. In April of 2018, however, the FDA restricted sales of Essure to those physicians who had reviewed an informed consent form directly with their patients.
The company manufacturing Essure, Bayer, announced that they would discontinue sales of the birth control device but claim that this was a business decision and say that the product is still safe.
Some of the representatives for Bayer allege that side effects reported by women who want to go through Essure removal are common side effects for all women and that these might not be tied directly to Essure.
Women around the world say they experienced debilitating and problematic pain and other symptoms after having the birth control device implanted and that it was not nearly as safe as promoted by the manufacturers. They say that they have had to suffer the consequences of the failure to warn and many of them are choosing to fight for their rights in lawsuits.
In general, Essure lawsuits are filed individually by each plaintiff and are not class actions.
