If you are a California homeowner who experienced premature roofing tile failure or damage, you may be able to take part in the California Monier roofing tiles class action settlement.

The California Monier roofing tiles class action settlement ends litigation alleging that slurry-coated tiles made by Monier Inc. were defective. A group of California homeowners said that the tiles were sold to them with a 50 year warranty, but failed much sooner. The plaintiffs said that the slurry coating would not remain on the tiles and came off well before the 50 year warranty period.

Further, alleged the California Monier roofing tiles class action lawsuit, the company advertised that the tiles “do not wear out,” and require no maintenance.

Under the terms of the California Monier roofing tiles class action settlement, Class Members can be compensated up to $3,705 per home or $400 for every 30 roofing squares for commercial properties. Class Members include those who own home or commercial properties with slurry-coated roofing tiles made by Monier Inc. between Jan. 1, 1978 and Aug. 14, 1997.

The California Monier roofing tiles class action lawsuit actually went to trial in October of 2012 and a jury determined in January of 2013 the damages for home and commercial property owners. However, the trial judge overturned the jury’s decision and the plaintiffs appealed. The appellate court ultimately overturned the judge’s ruling.
