Lack of Pradaxa Bleeding Antidote Puts Patients at RiskThose patients who are prescribed Pradaxa could be at risk of serious internal bleeding injuries which can only be fixed with a Pradaxa bleeding antidote.

If you or a loved one begin to suffer severe internal bleeding injuries, your doctors might have to administer emergency medical treatments immediately. A Pradaxa bleeding antidote, Praxbind, which was brought on the market several years after the drug was introduced, could reverse the devastating impacts of a severe internal bleed that could develop after taking the medication as intended.

Originally approved in 2010, Pradaxa was quickly connected with the risk of internal bleeding injuries that could become life threatening. For years, however, there was no Pradaxa bleeding antidote that would have protected patients.

Furthermore, many patients say they were never informed about the risk of internal bleeding to begin with, so they did not know the symptoms to be aware of. The lack of a Pradaxa bleeding antidote during that time, according to many different lawsuits, exposed users of the drug to dangerous side effects unnecessarily.

Many different severe side effects were reported in connection with the use of Pradaxa including; stroke, heart attack, death, brain hemorrhage, gastrointestinal bleeding, internal bleeding and kidney bleeding.

For a few years following Pradaxa’s entry into the market, the lack of a Pradaxa bleeding antidote limited the options for patients who experience dangerous bleeding episodes.

This is in comparison with users of the drug, warfarin. Doctors were able to help those users who experienced abdominal bleeding by flushing the body with vitamin K. This then allowed the patient’s body to clot normally and immediately stop any internal bleeding. Getting quick support from the Pradaxa bleeding antidote could save a patient’s life.

More than 260 reported deaths have been filed with the government due to internal bleeding tied to Pradaxa. Many different lawsuits filed against the manufacturer claimed that the lack of a Pradaxa bleeding antidote exposed many users of the popular drug to unnecessary risks.

At the end of 2011, the Food and Drug Administration provided a warning to users of Pradaxa about the possibility of uncontrollable internal bleeding. Dozens of individual Pradaxa lawsuits, as well as a Pradaxa class action lawsuit, allege that the manufacturer is responsible for the injuries sustained by these patients and accused the manufacturer of not doing enough to develop a Pradaxa bleeding antidote that could have stopped these life-threatening dangers.

Symptoms of severe internal bleeding include frequent nosebleeds, discolored urine, bleeding from the gums, bruising with no known cause, vomiting blood and coughing up blood.

Those patients who have chosen to file Pradaxa lawsuits allege that the manufacturer never informed them about the possible dangers of using this drug or the signs to watch out for with relation to internal bleeding.

Furthermore, many of these legal claims allege that the manufacturer knew about these dangers and did not do enough early on to provide a Pradaxa bleeding antidote that would have protected the users from the possibility of life threatening injuries.

In general, Pradaxa lawsuits are filed individually by each plaintiff and are not class actions.
