Xarelto bleeding family visiting man in hospitalA Utah man recently filed a Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit against Janssen Pharmaceuticals after the untimely death of his father from excessive bleeding.

The plaintiff, Barry G., filed this Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit after his father passed away from severe bleeding, which he alleges was caused by use of Xarelto. Barry’s father, Marc G., was a California resident, and began taking the blood thinner Xarelto. However, shortly after he began taking Xarelto, Barry says Marc began to suffer severe gastrointestinal bleeding complications, leading to physical and mental damages, as well as significant medical expenses.

The Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit alleges that Marc had not been given adequate warning about the risk of life-threatening bleeding associated with Xarelto, though Janssen allegedly knew about these risks. Instead, the Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit claims, Janssen actively concealed evidence of the dangers of Xarelto from patients and the medical community, choosing to represent the drug as safe and effective.

Unfortunately,Barry claims, the use of Xarelto eventually led to Marc’s death from excessive bleeding.

Barry filed the Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit on multiple counts, including design defect, manufacturing defect, failure to warn, negligence, breach of express and implied warranties, fraud, and wrongful death, among others.

The Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit was filed on March 29, 2018 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Background of Xarelto

Xarelto (also known by its generic name, rivaroxaban) is a relatively new blood thinning drug. Xarelto is manufactured and sold by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a prominent subsidiary of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson. Since it was first introduced to the market, Xarelto has become increasingly popular.

Xarelto is prescribed to treat blood clots and conditions related to clotting. Blood clots can be very dangerous, and in some cases can be fatal, which makes the use of new blood thinner drugs like Xarelto so widespread.

However, a growing number of lawsuits are being filed over complications allegedly stemming from the medication, including possible Xarelto caused death. Unfortunately, some have even had to file a Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit after the death of a loved one.

According to such lawsuits, Janssen knew about the dangerous side effects linked with Xarelto, including excessive bleeding problems, yet failed to adequately warn both consumers and the medical community, placing patients at serious risk.

Filing a Xarelto Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Filing a Xarelto wrongful death lawsuit cannot bring a loved one back to life. However, a Xarelto lawsuit can at least help to compensate for the financial expenses often incurred by medical bills and lost wages.

If you or someone you love has experienced severe Xarelto side effects like Xarelto bleeding, or even died from their usage of Xarelto, you may be able to file a Xarelto lawsuit.

The Xarelto Wrongful Death Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-03391-EEF-MBN, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
