Is your James Bond boxed set missing Casino Royale or Never Say Never Again? You could qualify to receive free copies of those films thanks to a recent class action settlement.
The settlement benefits Bond fans who purchased DVD or Blu-ray boxed sets entitled “Bond 50: Celebrating Five Decades of Bond 007,” “The James Bond Collection,” or “The Ultimate James Bond Collection.”
This James Bond boxed set class action lawsuit was filed last year by plaintiff Mary Johnson. Johnson says defendants Metro-Goldwyn Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment falsely marketed these boxed sets as comprehensive collections of all James Bond films. Labeling on the sets’ packaging used words like “every” and “all” in describing the films included in the sets.
In fact, Johnson claims, the sets contain only the “franchise films,” those produced by Eon Productions, and therefore they are missing the 1967 film Casino Royale and the 1983 film Never Say Never Again. By excluding those two films, she claims, the sets are missing some significant performances, such as Sean Connery’s last performance as Bond.
The James Bond boxed set settlement requires MGM and Fox to provide copies of the two allegedly missing films to persons who purchased qualifying James Bond boxed sets. The copies will be made available in digital format sometime after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
The defendants also agree that any future packaging of James Bond boxed sets will use the terms “all” or “every” only if it is clear from the packaging that the terms refer to the franchise films.
MGM Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment both say they entered into this James Bond settlement solely to avoid the expense and risk associated with further litigation. The settlement does not require either company to admit any fault.
Class Members may exclude themselves from the settlement by submitting a written request no later than May 18, 2018. Those who want to object to the settlement must do so by July 17, 2018.

UPC code?

SCAM !!
Add me too
Digital downloads… So basically, they get off with no “Real” penalty. Also, the class ends up with a non-tangible compensation. A digital download holds no value, nor does it make the DVD set complete. A voucher for the two DVD’s or a monetary reward in the amount of the cost to buy the two DVD’s would have been more fair to the class. Not like two major motion picture studios couldn’t afford to actually make good on this snafu financially.
