A $600,000 settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit alleging Tacoma Screw Products Inc. violated the federal Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing debit and credit cards’ expiration dates on customer receipts.
If you received a receipt for a purchase or transaction you made at a Tacoma Screw Products store with your personal debit or credit card between July 1, 2014 and July 14, 2016, you may be entitled to benefits from the FACTA class action settlement.
Plaintiff Albert Viesse filed the Tacoma Screw Products class action lawsuit on July 1, 2016, alleging the company willfully violated FACTA by printing payment cards’ expiration dates on receipts printed at a point of sale or transaction.
Tacoma Screw Products denies the allegations and maintains that it did not willfully violate FACTA. However, it has agreed to settle the FACTA class action lawsuit to avoid the uncertainty and expense of trial.
Under the terms of the FACTA settlement, Tacoma Screw Products will pay no less than $600,000 in benefits to Class Members.
In addition to providing $100 gift cards to Class Members who file timely and valid claims, TSP has also agreed to change its point of sale system so that it complies with FACTA rules prohibiting the printing of payment cards’ expiration dates, and it has also agreed to implement a FACTA compliance policy to ensure it continues to comply with FACTA rules.
The Tacoma Screw Products class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Dec. 27, 2017.

Class Members of the FACTA settlement include anyone who used a personal credit or debit card to make a purchase at a Tacoma Screw Products store at any time between July 1, 2014 and July 14, 2016, and who were provided an electronically printed receipt that included the payment card’s expiration date.
