A $4 million settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit alleging Graphic Packaging International Inc. violated California Labor Law.
If you currently or previously worked as a non-exempt or hourly employee of Graphic Packaging and worked in a production position in California at any time between April 8, 2011 and April 26, 2017, you may be entitled to compensation from the wage and hour class action settlement.
A group of plaintiffs accused Graphic Packaging of violating California labor law by failing to pay minimum and overtime wages, failing to provide meal and rest breaks, failing to provide accurate itemized wage statements, failing to keep proper payroll records, failing to pay wages in a timely manner during employment and upon termination of employment, and failing to reimburse for necessary business expenses.
According to the Graphic Packaging class action lawsuit, these failures constituted violations of California labor law, which protects the rights of employees to fair wages and proper working conditions.
Graphic Packaging denies the allegations but agreed to settle the wage and hour class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of ongoing litigation. Employers who violate California’s wage and hour laws may be required to compensate employees and former employees for the violations.
The Graphic Packaging class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Jan. 3, 2018.
If you would like to opt out of or object to the Graphic Packaging wage class action settlement, you must do so no later than March 26, 2018.
