Medicredit Inc. has agreed to pay $5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the company made unwanted and/or prerecorded collection calls to cell phones in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
If you received a phone call to your mobile device from July 2015 until October 2016 from Medicredit or a call from the third party, NPAS Inc., from April 2012 until October 2016, you may be entitled to a cash payment from the TCPA class action settlement.
Medicredit allegedly called more than 600,000 mobile phones about supposed debt using a predictive dialer; however, several class action lawsuits alleged that the mobile phone owners did not consent to be contacted on their mobile phones, nor did they provide the mobile phone numbers Medicredit contacted.
The class action lawsuits further alleged that Medicredit used an artificial or prerecorded message to contact Class Members.
According to the Medicredit TCPA settlement documents, there were 627,642 unique mobile phone numbers that were called by Medicredit though a predictive dialer made by Noble Systems Corporation during the applicable Class Period.
The Telephone Consumer Protection Act prohibits the use of prerecorded or artificially produced messages as well as the use of automatic telephone dialing systems to contact mobile phones without prior express consent. Companies that violate the TCPA can face steep fines – up to $1,500 per violation.
While Medicredit denies any liability, the company agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid the risk and expense of ongoing litigation.
The Medicredit class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Dec. 15, 2017. Class Members who want to object to the terms of the settlement or ask to be excluded from it must do so by March 30, 2018.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members of the Medicredit TCPA settlement include anyone who received a mobile phone call from Medicredit between July 2015 and October 2016 or from NPAS Inc. from April 2012 and October 2016.
Potential Award
$82 (estimated)
The final cash payment amount will depend on the total number of valid and timely claims submitted by settlement Class Members, but Class Counsel estimates individual payouts to be $82.
Proof of Purchase
When submitting a claim, Class Members must provide either their Claim ID number and Access Code that was provided on the postcard notice or the mobile phone number that received a qualifying call from Medicredit or NPAS Inc.

Got a check today, which was my first for $24.24. Wondering if this was the only one mailed out because it stated remaining payment from initial payment. So where’s the rest!
I was going through some unopened mail and found my check for $84.30 that was sent September 28, 2018, is there a way I can be issued another check?
They are still calling me right too this day… What should I do about it?? To my understanding they shouldn’t still be calling me right
They ARE still doing this.
I believe they are because, I see something in my Informed Delivery today from this settlement. I received a check already last year in August I think from this for $84 something so, maybe this leftover funds that they are distributing. I will know for sure when I receive the mail today.
I got one today too don’t know how much
It was a check for $24.24. The letter attached to the check said that it was remaining funds left over from the initial round of checks last year. It said to cash the check before 7/5/19 or it will be Void after that date. Well, I don’t have to worry about that because, I’m depositing today. : ) Nice surprise check.
I have a check coming today as well!
They are still doing this.
