The AT&T U-verse settlement resolves a class action lawsuit alleging AT&T used an automatic telephone dialing system and/or an artificial or prerecorded voice to call consumers’ cell phones about AT&T’s U-verse service without first obtaining the cell phone subscribers’ consent.

Plaintiff Kison Patel filed the AT&T class action lawsuit in September 2015, accusing the company of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which prohibits companies from using predictive dialing systems and artificial or prerecorded voices to contact consumers without their prior express consent.

AT&T denied the allegations but agreed to settle the TCPA class action lawsuit to avoid the burden and expense of ongoing litigation.

Class Members of the AT&T settlement included: “All subscribers to those telephone numbers identified as having lodged a complaint prior to November 18, 2015, regarding receiving a communication from AT&T regarding an AT&T U-verse account for which they were not the accountholder (excluding subscribers of AT&T wireless or U-verse services).”

The deadline to file a claim for the AT&T U-verse class action settlement passed on Aug. 15, 2017.

The AT&T U-verse TCPA Class Action Lawsuit is Kison Patel v. AT&T Services Inc., et al., Case No. 1:15-cv-08174, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.
