blood thinner hospital bedA recent Janssen lawsuit alleges that a New Mexico resident died as a direct result of Xarelto side effects, specifically Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding.

The decedent, Ricardo C., began taking Xarelto at the direction of his doctor on or around June 22, 2016, and continued this usage for nearly a year, until March 24, 2017. Unfortunately, Ricardo allegedly suffered from severe Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding problems that ultimately led to his death.

According to the Xarelto lawsuit, had Ricardo been adequately warned about the risks of Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding, he would have chosen a safer alternative and could have avoided these dangerous side effects altogether.

This Xarelto lawsuit was filed by a personal representative of Ricardo’s estate, Mercedes M., who filed the lawsuit on Jan. 3, 2018 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including strict liability, manufacturing defect, design defect, failure to warn, negligence, breach of express and implied warranties, fraud and others.

This lawsuit is a part of an MDL, or multidistrict litigation, which consists of multiple Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding lawsuits.

Xarelto Uncontrolled Bleeding

Xarelto (also known by its generic name, rivaroxaban) is a relatively new blood thinning drug, or anticoagulant, manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Janssen is a prominent subsidiary of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson.

Xarelto was just approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) less than a decade ago, in 2011. Xarelto is meant to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism. Unfortunately, Xarelto has been linked with some serious dangers.

A series of clinical trials well known in the medical community and oft-cited in lawsuits has revealed a link between Xarelto and major bleeding complications, which can lead to brain hemorrhaging or even fatality, as in the case of this lawsuit. The studies indicated that patients taking Xarelto had a significantly higher rate of uncontrolled bleeding problems than patients who took other anticoagulants.

Xarelto bleeding lawsuits allege that Janssen was not only aware of these studies and the significant risk of Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding, but failed to report these major bleeding events. Lawsuits further allege that Janssen failed to adequately warn consumers and the medical community about the major risks associated with their Xarelto medication.

Despite the manufacturer’s alleged knowledge of these risks, plaintiffs claim the company continued to market Xarelto in a manner the lawsuit describes as negligent and misleading, diminishing the concern for the serious risks of the drug.

Xarelto Uncontrolled Bleeding Lawsuits

Xarelto is currently facing hundreds of Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding lawsuits filed by or on behalf of patients who have experienced gastrointestinal bleeding, brain hemorrhaging, or other adverse events after taking Xarelto medication.

If you or someone you love has suffered from Xarelto side effects such as Xarelto uncontrolled bleeding, you may be able to join a Xarelto bleeding lawsuit.

The Xarelto Uncontrolled Bleeding Lawsuit is Case No. 2:18-cv-00096-EEF-MBN, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
