Roundup cancer lymphoma watering plants gardeningThe popular herbicide Roundup and small lymphocytic lymphoma, a type of cancer, have been allegedly linked.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has also noted that non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, multiple myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and B-cell lymphoma have been connected to exposure to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup.

IARC is part of the World Health Organization (WHO). On July 29, 2015, the IARC relayed a formal statement regarding glyphosate after a thorough evaluation of the impact of several herbicides.

IARC basically identified Roundup as a probable cancer-causing agent with this statement–even though Roundup is the most popularly used herbicide globally, as measured in 2013.

Roundup and Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma Linked in Recent Lawsuit

Plaintiffs Randall H. and Diane H., a married couple, recently filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Arizona against the Monsanto Company, developers and makers of Roundup herbicide.

Randall says he developed small lymphocytic lymphoma allegedly because of exposure to Roundup. He was diagnosed in February 2017. Randall H. and Diane H. are residents of Arizona, and they claim they used this glyphosate-containing product for 25 years on their property.

In the couple’s complaint, Randall claims that he had no knowledge of any association between Roundup and small lymphocytic lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, or any other types of cancer. He claims that he could not have known this information prior to the release of IARC’s statement concerning their investigation.

The couple’s Roundup cancer lawsuit alleges the Monsanto Company identified glyphosate as an effective herbicide in the early 1970s and began promoting the product under the name Roundup. By 2003, the American agricultural industry was using about 85 to 90 million pounds each year. That figure grew to 185 million pounds by 2007.

Concealment and Other Accusations Concerning Roundup and Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma

Randall and Diane bring the following claims against the chemical giant, the Monsanto Company: Count one – Strict Liability, Design Defect; Count two – Strict Liability, Failure to Warn; Count three – Negligence; Count four – Breach of Express Warranty; Count five – Breach of Implied Warranty of Merchantability; Count six – Violation of Arizona Consumer Fraud Act; and Count seven – Loss of Consortium.

The plaintiffs in this case are asking for a trial by jury, and requesting relief as demonstrated by a judgment that includes punitive damages, compensatory damages, all court costs, attorney’s fees, and miscellaneous litigation expenses. They hope for a fair and judicial assessment of appropriate compensation based on the evidence.

Small lymphocytic lymphoma’s early symptoms are usually fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and disproportionate sweating. The fatigue is usually related to anemia, or low red blood cell count. Other symptoms may be a chronic difficulty in breathing, and bruising without apparent cause.

Randall and Diane’s Monsanto Lawsuit is Case No 3:17-cv-08149-DLR in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
