Clorox Drop-In Tablets

If you purchased Clorox Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach within the past eight years, you may be able to claim up to $175 from a class action lawsuit settlement.

The Clorox Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach settlement resolves a class action lawsuit over Clorox’s claim that the Drop-In Clorox Tablets do not harm plumbing. The class action lawsuit alleges that the chemicals in the Drop-In Tablets corrode the toilet tank parts, causing the rubber and plastic parts to deteriorate until the flush mechanism fails or no longer seals properly. The lawsuit also claims that Clorox — based on its own tests — knew or should have known that the Drop-In Tablets would deteriorate the toilet sink parts, and yet sold the product by telling customers that it would not harm their plumbing. Clorox denies any wrongdoing and maintains that the Drop-In Tablets are safe for plumbing when used as directed. Clorox has decided to end the litigation, however, by establishing an $8 million settlement fund to pay out class members and pay for administrative costs.

You’re considered a member of the settlement class if you purchased, used or suffered any property damage from using these Drop-In Tablets between December 13, 2002 and September 15, 2010. Damages can include purchase price refunds, flapper replacement cost, etc.

There are two ways to claim money:

Claim Form 1 is for damages totaling $30 or less. This requires no proof of damages.

Claim Form 2 is for damages totaling over $30 and up to $175 in damages. This requires an explanation of your damages, information on plumbers or other professionals you paid, and repair bills and/or receipts and other supporting documents that you have available.

Claim forms can be submitted online at www.CATBCsettlement.com. The deadline to submit your claim for the Clorox Drop-In Tablet class action settlement is January 18, 2011. The deadline to exclude yourself or object to the settlement is December 6, 2010. The final approval hearing is scheduled for November 22, 2010.
