If you visited Pit Boss Rib House restaurant in Illinois within the last two years and received an electronically printed receipt that displayed the expiration date of your credit or debit card, you could receive a coupon worth $12.50 from a class action lawsuit settlement.
The Pit Boss Rib House class action lawsuit alleges the BBQ restaurant violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which prohibits merchants from printing more than five digits of a customer’s credit or debit card number, and from printing a card’s expiration date. The lead plaintiff in the case alleges that Pit Boss Rib House displayed the expiration date of his credit card on his printed receipt, and brought the lawsuit on behalf of all Illinois Pit Boss Rib House customers who also received a receipt from the restaurant between June 4, 2008 and February 20, 2010 that had their credit or debit card expiration date printed on it.
As part of the class action lawsuit settlement, all persons who submit a valid claim form by November 26, 2010 will receive a Pit Boss Rib House coupon worth $12.50. A minimum of 1,000 coupons will be issued, so submit your claim form as soon as possible to ensure you receive one. If there are less than 1,000 claims made, coupons will be randomly distributed to those making credit card purchases at Pit Boss Rib House. Those who wish to object to or exclude themselves from the class action lawsuit settlement must also do so before November 26, 2010. The final fairness hearing will be held January 25, 2011.
