The class action settlement resolves claims that Chase Bank USA NA and JPMorgan Chase Bank NA used an automatic telephone dialing system to place robocalls or text spam to consumers without their prior express consent.

The calls were allegedly placed to some consumers regarding their Chase credit card or bank account, while others received an automatic alert from Chase but they were not the intended recipient.

All U.S. residents who received a collection call or a wrong-party automatic alert via call or text from Chase Bank between July 1, 2008 and Dec. 1, 2013 were considered Class Members.

The banking corporation denied the allegations but agreed to pay $34 million to settle the TCPA class action lawsuit to avoid ongoing litigation.

On Nov. 26, 2016, Class Members who filed a claim for the Chase settlement started receiving the first round of settlement checks worth as much as $91.10. According to the settlement agreement, if enough funds remained that each Class Member could receive a second settlement award of $3 or more, then there would be another round of checks issued on a pro rata basis.

The deadline to file a claim for the Chase Bank class action settlement passed on Sept. 10, 2015.
