A testosterone product lawsuit has been filed against AbbVie Inc. and Eli Lilly and Co., alleging a Nevada man suffered from a pulmonary embolism after using their testosterone replacement therapy products, AndroGel and Axiron.

Plaintiff Robert S. filed this testosterone lawsuit in April of this year, claiming he developed severe and life-threatening health problems after using AndroGel and Axiron to treat his supposed low-t condition.

Sometime around February 2012, Robert claims he was prescribed and began taking Axiron, and was later prescribed and took AndroGel in October of the same year.

As a result of his use of these testosterone gel and testosterone cream products, “Plaintiff Robert suffered a pulmonary embolism on April 9, 2013,” according to the testosterone product lawsuit. “He was hospitalized from April 9, 2013 through April 11, 2013 and suffered non-economic and economic losses as a result.”

Robert brings several allegations against the testosterone product manufacturers in this testosterone product lawsuit, including design defect, failure to warn, negligence, negligent misrepresentation, breach of implied warranty of merchantability, breach of express warranty, fraud, consumer protection, and punitive damages, among other claims.

The AbbVie and Eli Lilly Testosterone Product Lawsuit is Case No. 1:15-cv-03046. It is part of the Testosterone Product MDL known as In re: Testosterone Replacement Therapy Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2545, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Testosterone Product Side Effects

Back in June 2013, AndroGel, Axiron, Androderm, Testim, and other testosterone replacement therapy lawsuits were consolidated into a national testosterone product multidistrict litigation (MDL).

These testosterone product lawsuits filed in the MDL similarly allege personal injuries caused by the use of these prescription testosterone gels, testosterone creams, testosterone injections, and other forms of testosterone drugs.

In addition to testosterone personal injury claims, these same testosterone gel lawsuits allege that the testosterone drug manufacturers aggressively marketed their testosterone products to middle aged men, with promises that using these testosterone therapy products would combat the natural symptoms of male aging. These symptoms include decreased energy, libido, and muscle mass.

Because of the allegedly deceptive marketing of these products, testosterone side effects lawsuits claim many men felt compelled to ask for testosterone therapy from their physicians even when they were not diagnosed with a low-t (or low-testosterone) condition such as hypogonadism.

The plaintiffs who have filed these testosterone lawsuits claim that this unnecessary prescription of testosterone has led to an increase in testosterone injuries and complications. Some serious testosterone product side effects include:

• Heart attack
• Stroke
• Death

Many individuals such as Robert are filing testosterone product lawsuits or have already joined testosterone product class action lawsuits against the manufacturers of these products, seeking compensation for personal injuries incurred while using testosterone therapy.
