Appstack class action lawsuitTop Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement that accused Appstack Inc. of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Appstack TCPA class action settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $123.06 on March 20, 2017.

If you filed a claim for the Appstack settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!

The Appstack class action settlement resolves allegations that the company made robocalls to cell phones without the prior express consent of the recipient. According to the class action lawsuit, these prerecorded messages violated federal law.

Appstack denied the allegations but agreed to pay $975,000 to settle the class action. In addition to the settlement fund, Appstack also agreed to make changes to its telemarketing procedures so they remain TCPA compliant.

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act prohibits businesses from placing unwanted calls or sending text spam to consumers without their permission. Companies who violate the TCPA could faces fines between $500 and $1,500 per violation.

Appstack settlement Class Members included all U.S. residents who on or after Aug. 27, 2009, “received a call to your cellular telephone line with a prerecorded message made by or on behalf of Appstack.”

The deadline to file a claim for the Appstack TCPA class action settlement passed on Nov. 28, 2016.
