The Alpha-Hydroxy Myth in Anti-Aging Products

By John Curran

anti-aging productsMedical researchers would love for various chemicals and vitamins to help men and women improve their skin. After all, while many use cosmetics to look better, these would also help patients who have undergone invasive surgeries to minimize scarring. Unfortunately, many women are finding out that alpha-hydroxy acid is not all it’s cracked up to be when used as an ingredient in anti-aging skin care products.

Scientists have found that there is a benefit to the chemical in that it increases collagen. That is what provides the appearance of firm skin and can also strengthen the epidermis. The one problem with anti-aging skin products is that they are often marketed as a way to reduce the effects of time in the sun and other damage. Alpha-hydroxy acid cannot do that because scientific testing indicates that it can only work as a preventive measure.

If a man or woman decided to use these skin care creams, then, the existing damage would not be affected by that chemical or by Vitamins A or E. In the case of the latter, it also only works as a preventive measure; only Vitamin A might have a beneficial effect by promoting the growth of new skin cells that could replace damaged ones. The other ingredients of many products may actually make wrinkles stand out, according to some experts, because it makes the underlying tissue plump or standout.

Many women especially are finding out that while these products are marketed as anti-aging remedies, the chemical makeup makes that nearly impossible. As a result, there are ongoing false advertising investigations into whether or not these anti-aging products have lived up to advertising claims regarding Vitamin A and other components.

Product liability lawyers are available for a case eligibility review for people who think that they did not get the benefits promised for these products. You can get one by visiting the Anti-Aging Skin Care Product Class Action Lawsuit Investigation and filling out the short form there. You may be eligible to receive compensation for your purchase, but it is important to get a no-cost legal consultation to understand what options you may have.
