Top Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement that accused magazine publisher Rodale Inc. of divulging subscriber information to third party marketing companies without the permission of the consumer.
According to comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Rodale magazine class action settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $41.22 on Feb. 9, 2017.
If you filed a claim for the Rodale class action settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!
The Rodale class action settlement resolves allegations that the magazine publisher violated Michigan state law by passing on subscriber information to third parties for the purpose of marketing without getting the consent of its customers first.
In addition to paying $4.5 million, Rodale also agreed to stop this alleged practice for the next four years and update its privacy policy regarding its disclosure practice.
Class Members included magazine subscribers with a Michigan street address who purchased a subscription to one of the following magazines between July 1, 2009 and May 3, 2016:
- Runner’s World
- Women’s Health
- Bicycling
- Men’s Health
- Prevention
- Running Times
- Organic Life (formerly Organic Gardening)
The deadline to file a claim for the Rodale magazine class action settlement passed on Dec. 9, 2016.
