Top Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement that accused Citibank of failing to inform banking customers that their phone calls were being recorded in violation of California state law.
According to reader comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the California Citibank settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $2,263 on Nov. 1, 2016.
If you filed a claim for the Citibank class action settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!
The Citibank settlement resolves allegations that the financial giant violated California’s Invasion of Privacy Act by listening in on phone calls made to its toll-free number without disclosing this information to customers.
Plaintiff Ramona Edery filed the class action lawsuit after allegedly calling Citibank’s toll-free line and discussing private financial information during the conversation without being told ahead of time that the call was being recorded.
Citibank denied the allegations but agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle the class action and avoid the cost of further litigation.
Class Members included all California residents who participated in one or more phone conversations with Citibank at 800-745-1534 and were recorded or monitored without being informed between Apr. 3, 2013 and May 15, 2013.

ARE YOU STILL SENDING OUT CHECKS OR YOU SEND THEM ALL OUT ALREADY.
Top Class Actions is not a Settlement Administrator. We do not process settlement claims and do not mail out settlement checks. We do not have access to any individual claim information. You should contact the settlement administrator or class counsel with any questions about the status of your claim. Good Luck!
