LinkedIn Add Connections Class Action Settlement Checks Mailed

Top Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement that accused LinkedIn Corp. of improperly harvesting email contacts from members in order to send LinkedIn invitations to possible new users.

According to comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the LinkedIn email harvest class action lawsuit started receiving checks worth as much as $20.43 on Oct. 17, 2016.

If you filed a claim for the LinkedIn settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!

The LinkedIn settlement resolves allegations that the online networking website’s add connections feature allowed the company to access email contacts and send LinkedIn advertisements emails to non-members.

Class Members included “all current and former LinkedIn members who used Add Connections to import information from external email accounts and send emails to persons who were non-members in which the member’s name, photograph, likeness and/or identity was displayed between September 17, 2011 and October 31, 2014.”

LinkedIn denied the allegations but agreed to pay $13 million to settle the litigation.

The deadline to file a claim for the LinkedIn settlement passed on Dec. 14, 2015.
