screen-shot-2016-10-19-at-3-05-39-pmscreen-shot-2016-10-19-at-3-05-52-pmThe JASON, Avalon Organics class action settlement resolves allegations that Hain Celestial mislabeled its cosmetics as organic in violation of California state law.

According to the plaintiffs, California’s Organic Products Act requires that items labeled as “organic” be made of 70 percent organic ingredients, at a minimum.

The Hain Celestial class action lawsuit alleged that numerous products sold under the JASON or Avalon Organics product line did not meet this standard.

The cosmetic manufacturer denied the allegations but agreed to settle the class action to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation.

Class Members include consumers who purchased JASON and/or Avalon Organics in the state of California between May 11, 2007 and Jan. 6, 2015 (other than those items that were USDA certified as organic).

The deadline to file a claim for the Hain Celestial settlement passed on Jan. 12, 2016.
