The Interstate settlement resolves allegations that the company placed phone calls to cell phones listed on the National Do Not Call Registry.

Plaintiff Diana Mey claimed that Interstate was trying to sell her an extended warranty on her car even though she never inquired about one.

She claimed the unsolicited telemarketing calls violated the TCPA.

Although Interstate National denied the allegations, they agreed to pay $4.2 million to settle and avoid the risk of further legal expense.

Class Members included all U.S. residents who received at least one call from Interstate between June 12, 2010 and Jan. 28, 2016 to a phone number that was listed on the National Do Not Call Registry.

The deadline to file a claim for the Interstate class action settlement passed on Mar. 24, 2016.

It seems sad thatFines are imposed at the rate of 500 to $1,500 per occurrence but that the people receiving the payout are only getting $30 total for all of the occurrences.
