The Stevia In The Raw settlement resolves allegations that the sugar substitute was falsely labeled as “100% Natural Zero Calorie Sweetener” when it contained ingredients dextrose and maltodextrin.

Lead plaintiff Leslie Frohberg claimed that consumers were mislead into believing that the sweetener was “natural” and manufacturer Cumberland “profited enormously” because of it.

Cumberland denied the allegations but agreed to the settlement to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation.

Class Members included all U.S. residents who purchased Stevia In The Raw for personal use between Oct. 9, 2009, and July 1, 2014. The Stevia In the Raw package must have contained the terms “natural,” “all natural” or “100% natural.”

The deadline to file a claim for the Stevia In The Raw class action settlement passed on June 6, 2016.
