Top Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement that accused discount retailer Family Dollar of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Family Dollar TCPA settlement began receiving both a $29.95 store gift card and a $29.95 check on Aug. 12, 2016.
If you filed a claim for the Family Dollar class action settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!
The Family Dollar settlement resolves allegations that the company sent text messages to customers without their prior express written consent.
Class Members included all U.S. residents who were sent a unwanted text from Family Dollar between Oct. 16, 2013 and Mar. 7, 2016.
Family Dollar denied the allegations but agreed to pay $1.5 million to avoid the cost and risk of further litigation.
The deadline to file a claim for the Family Dollar class action settlement passed on June 3, 2016.
