The AmeriCredit class action settlement resolves allegations that the company placed cell phone calls to consumers by using an automatic telephone dialing system or a prerecorded voice message without prior express consent.

AmeriCredit denied the allegations but agreed to pay between $6.5 and $8.5 million to settle the class action to avoid the risk of going to trial.

Class Members of the TCPA class action lawsuit included all U.S. residents who were called on a cell phone by AmeriCredit, or a third party dialing company on behalf of AmeriCredit, using an automatic dialing system or by prerecorded voice message between Dec. 30, 2007 and Nov. 14, 2014.

Under the terms of the settlement, Class Members could receive up to $150 if they provided proof of how many calls they received or $30 per cell phone number called without proof.

The deadline to file a claim for the AmeriCredit TCPA settlement passed on Jan. 20, 2016.
