bleeding-xarelto-emergencyA number of Louisiana plaintiffs recently filed a joint Xarelto lawsuit against Janssen Pharmaceuticals, alleging that the drug caused severe Xarelto side effects including uncontrollable internal bleeding.

One Maryland plaintiff’s Xarelto side effects were allegedly so severe that she died from the complications. Joann B., deceased,  is represented in this lawsuit by her executor.

According to the Xarelto lawsuit, Joann began taking Xarelto as a blood clot treatment in January 2011, and stopped taking it in May 2013 when she suffered from a fatal pulmonary hemorrhage.

The Xarelto lawsuit alleges that Janssen Pharmaceuticals either knew or should have known about the severe and possibly fatal side effects of their drug.

Because the company failed to adequately warn the public and the medical community about these complications, Joann’s lawsuit alleges, Janssen is responsible for her injuries and death.

Xarelto Side Effects

Xarelto (rivaroxaban), a popular blood clot treatment drug, has been the target of a number of Xarelto lawsuits across the country. The lawsuits are filed against Xarelto’s manufacturer, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, which is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.

Xarelto is a blood thinner often prescribed to prevent blood clotting. Blood clots can be dangerous or even fatal, so blood clot treatment is a common approach to helping patients who suffer from a number of conditions in which blood clots can be especially dangerous.

Patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs), or deep vein thrombosis (blood clots deep inside the body) are particularly likely to require blood clot treatment such as Xarelto.

Most patients who develop Xarelto side effects only suffer from mild complications that go away on their own, but some patients experience much more dangerous side effects, including excessive bleeding.

Excessive bleeding can be dangerous or even fatal.

Xarelto Lawsuits

Xarelto lawsuits claim that Janssen Pharmaceuticals either knew or should have known about the excessive bleeding risks linked with Xarelto, but the company failed to adequately warn the public and the medical community about these complications.

Xarelto lawsuits further claim that, despite this knowledge, Janssen continued to market Xarelto as completely safe and effective, diminishing possible concerns over severe side effects.

A Xarelto lawsuit cannot negate the pain and suffering of a patient who experiences severe Xarelto side effects such as excessive bleeding. However, a successful Xarelto lawsuit can help with the financial expenses incurred by medical bills and lost wages.

If you or someone you love has experienced severe Xarelto side effects, including excessive internal bleeding, after using Xarelto, you may be able to file a Xarelto lawsuit against Janssen.

This joint Xarelto lawsuit was filed on multiple counts, including defective design, failure to warn, negligence, and fraud.

The Xarelto Lawsuit is filed within the larger Xarelto multidistrict litigation, In Re Xarelto Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2592, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
