Top Class Actions readers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement stemming from allegations that LabCorp violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) by printing the expiration dates on debit and credit card receipts.
According to reader comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the LabCorp settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $179.44 on May 9, 2016.
If you filed a claim for the LabCorp FACTA class action settlement, keep checking your mailbox because you may soon be receiving your payout!
The LabCorp class action settlement resolves allegations that “LabCorp systematically printed debit and credit card transaction receipts that revealed the expiration dates of cards used in the transaction, in willful violation of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act.”
While LabCorp did not admit to any wrongdoing, they agreed to pay $11 million to the near 665,000 Class Members affected by this lawsuit.
In addition to the Settlement Fund, LabCorp also agreed to print only FACTA compliant debit and credit card receipts from this point on.
The deadline to file a claim for the LabCorp class action settlement passed on Jan. 25, 2016.
