The Hyundai class action settlement resolves claims that the car manufacturer recorded customer service lines without informing the caller, in violation of multiple state laws.
Lead plaintiff Brandon Wheelock claimed that between Aug. 17, 2011 and Nov. 29, 2011, Hyundai “intentionally and surreptitiously recorded and/or monitored these calls … between Hyundai customers and employees without ever warning customers they were being recorded and/or monitored and without ever obtaining customer consent or permission.”
Hyundai denied all accusations but agreed to settle the call recording class action lawsuit to avoid the cost of further litigation.
Class Members of the Hyundai call recording settlement included residents of California, Florida, Maryland, Nevada or New Hampshire who called one of the toll-free customer assistance telephone numbers and spoke with a representative of Hyundai during the class period.
The deadline to file a claim for the Hyundai class action settlement passed on Sept. 25, 2015.

My Hyundai Sonata was stolen over 4 months ago . I am a 100% disabled veteran and cannot be without a car . Car was recovered with all kinds of damage . I’ve been outta pocket thousands for rental plus my insurance went way up . I live on fixed income cannot keep paying outta pocket for rentals . I bought a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport a few years ago with appro 40000 miles. I had issues with the oil immediately, and had to top off every 500 to 1000 miles. Still do atv133000. I only recently learned of the engine issues. I was never told by carnax, where I bought the car, or contacted by hyundai. It us very frustrating. Been told by hyundai they will not give new engine until possible after the engine blows up and/ or catches fire. This is absurd.
