UPDATE: A federal appeals court overturned the Pampers Dry Max class action settlement on August 2, 2013, calling the relief offered to Class Members “illusory.”

Procter & Gamble has reached a class action lawsuit settlement over its Pampers Dry Max diapers, which plaintiffs claimed caused diaper rash, skin burns, infections and other skin ailments. The diaper settlement, which still needs final approval, will provide refunds to parents who purchased Pampers Cruisers and Swaddlers diapers with Dry Max technology.

The Pampers Dry Max diaper settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit (In Re: Dry Max Pampers Litigation) that alleged health effects related to the manufacturing, marketing, distribution, promotion and/or sale of Pampers with Dry Max diapers.  P&G denies it did anything wrong and maintains there is nothing wrong with the diapers, but has agreed to settle and end the litigation.

As part of the Pampers Dry Max class action settlement, P&G has agreed to reinstate its money-back guarantee program for consumers who purchased Pampers with Dry Max diapers and were dissatisfied. It has also agreed to modify the label for its Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers diapers to provide a website address and toll-free number where consumers can learn more about diaper rash; provide additional information on the Pampers website about diaper rash; produce and fund a pediatric resident training program at a leading children’s health center in the area of skin health; and sponsor a program in the area of skin health.

Class Members of the Pampers Dry Max diaper settlement include all persons in the United States who purchased or acquired (including by gift) Pampers brand diapers containing “Dry Max Technology” from August 2008 through Final Judgment. Dry Max diapers come in two varieties: Swaddlers and Cruisers.

All Class Members will automatically receive the settlement benefits outlined above if the settlement is approved; no action needs to be taken.

I believe that you are mistaken in thinking that the parents were not giving proper care down there, I know I gave proper care and my son had gotten a horrible rash after using pampers dry max. But, I didn’t relies at the time that it was causing diaper rashes in such large quantities. I have sensitive skin and thought he must as-well(and he does) so we switched brands and he never had a problem that bad again.

Huh? My daughter has been using this since she was born in 2010 and we have never EVER had any of these diaper rash, skin burns, infections and other skin ailments.
We even use Pampers Wipes to clean her off. Not once have we had any issues. To me as a parent sounds like the parents were not giving their kids proper cleaning down there.
