UPPAbaby has recalled 86,000 adapters on its RumbleSeats infant seats due to a risk the adapters can detach and pose a fall risk to children in the seats.

In a recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, UPPAbaby said it had received 135 reports of detachments, including 77 incidents resulting in bumps, scrapes and two reports of broken noses.

The faulty adapter is designed to be used with the UPPAbaby RumbleSeat, and it attaches the RumbleSeat to the stroller. The two plastic adapters that fit onto the stroller frame were only included with RumbleSeat Models 0252, 0917, and 0918, and unlike unaffected adapters, they do not have yellow tabs, the recall notice says.

Consumers can find the model numbers printed on the law label located on the underside of the Rumbleseat.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled adapters and contact UPPAbaby to receive free replacement adapters,” UPPAbaby said in the recall notice.

It added that consumers who own a RumbleSeat accessory manufactured between September 2014 and July 2019 will be provided with replacement RumbleSeat adapters.

Consumers can go to www.uppababy.com to confirm their RumbleSeat accessory adapters are included in the recall.

“If the adapter does not have a yellow tab, immediately stop using the recalled RumbleSeat accessory with the adapters and fill out the form on the UPPAbaby website in order to receive a free replacement adapter set,” the notice says.

The RumbleSeats were made in China and sold in specialty stores from October 2014 through July 2019 for between $180 and $200.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other recalls of children’s products to help keep consumers informed.

Recently, Amazon had to recall more than 10,000 kids’ sleepwear items for failing to meet federal flammability standards. The recalled kids’ sleepwear includes a robe and two nightgowns. In three separate recall notices issued Wednesday, the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that because the products do not meet federal standards, they increase the risk of burn injuries to children in the event of a fire.
