Lowe’s is facing allegations that it promotes misleading discounts on many of its major appliances as well as custom blinds and shades. According to consumer complaints, the retailer frequently advertises ongoing sales — often claiming discounts between 15% and 40% off — on products such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, wall ovens, ranges, cooktops, freezers and custom window coverings.

Shoppers allege these sales are not genuine. Instead of offering temporary price reductions, Lowe’s is accused of running nearly constant “discounts” that reflect the products’ regular prices. Consumers claim this pricing strategy creates the impression of savings when none actually exist, encouraging purchases while allowing the retailer to charge inflated prices.

A law firm working with Top Class Actions is investigating these allegations to determine whether Lowe’s customers may have overpaid due to deceptive pricing practices. The investigation also seeks to determine whether the retailer should be required to change its advertising methods to comply with consumer protection laws.

How Lowe’s allegedly misrepresented its sales

Consumers claim that Lowe’s discount pricing relies on misleading tactics that make ordinary prices appear like special deals. According to customer complaints, these practices generally fall into two categories.

Alleged false markdowns and inflated “regular” prices

Shoppers allege that Lowe’s advertises major appliances and custom blinds or shades with crossed-out “WAS” prices meant to suggest a significant price reduction. However, consumers claim these products were never sold at the higher prices. If true, the advertised “sale” price would not represent a genuine markdown, but rather the product’s standard retail price presented as a discount.

Alleged fake limited-time sales

Consumers also report that Lowe’s frequently promotes discounts on appliances and customer blinds as “limited-time deals” with clearly stated expiration dates, such as “Valid through: 09/25/2025.” According to these allegations, the same discounts often remain available well after the advertised end date. Shoppers claim these promotions are not truly time-limited, but are instead ongoing pricing framed as short-term offers to pressure consumers into making faster purchasing decisions.

At the center of these allegations is the claim that Lowe’s may have used deceptive pricing practices to create the illusion of savings. By allegedly inflating original prices and attaching expiration dates to sales that do not actually end, the retailer may have misled consumers about the true value of its discounts and the urgency to buy.
