Hanna Andersson, a children’s clothing retailer that now sells exclusively online, is facing allegations that it uses misleading sales tactics to make discounts appear larger than they really are. According to consumer complaints, the company regularly promoted items as being on sale, even when the listed “discounted” prices matched the product’s usual selling price.

A law firm working with Top Class Actions is now investigating and helping Hanna Andersson customers in bringing these false discount claims. The law firm is helping customers to seek potential recovery for alleged overpayments and to encourage Hanna Andersson to comply with consumer protection laws.

How Hanna Andersson allegedly misrepresented sales

Shoppers claim that Hanna Andersson advertised fake sales to trick customers into buying its clothing products and paying more than they would have otherwise paid. According to complaints, the retailer may have used two questionable pricing tactics that led customers to believe they were saving money when, allegedly, they were not.

Inflated regular prices

Consumers allege that Hanna Andersson often advertised sales of 30% to 60% off, but based those discounts on strikethrough “regular” prices that were significantly higher than the prices that the products normally sold for.

Shoppers say the sale price was approximately the same as, and sometimes higher than, the item’s true regular price. Customers say that this constituted false discount advertising.

Continuous short-term promotions

Shoppers also report that Hanna Andersson frequently advertised limited-time promotions and sales events. In reality, when the sales event supposedly ended, it was replaced by a new sale with similar promotions and discounts. These ongoing purported sales allegedly created pressure to buy quickly, leading customers to believe they would miss out on savings if they waited.

Taken together, these complaints suggest that Hanna Andersson may have overstated savings through inflated prices and perpetual promotions, which could have influenced how much consumers spent.
