Zillow website regarding the class action settlement with California workers

Zillow has agreed to pay $1.1 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the company short-changed its California employees.

A U.S. district judge preliminarily approved the Zillow workers’ settlement, saying it was fair and would prevent the class action lawsuit from dragging on, according to court documents. This means that an estimated class of over 300 California Zillow employees who believe they were shorted on overtime pay, minimum wages, or commissions are one step closer to getting the compensation they’re owed.

Zillow Class Action Lawsuit Alleges Employees Were Short-Changed

Lead plaintiff Nicole Correa worked for Zillow since 2016 as a business consultant. She filed the Zillow employees class action lawsuit in March of 2019, alleging that Zillow was violating California labor laws. She claimed Zillow failed to pay workers overtime pay and minimum wages.

Correa also said the company systematically reduced employee’s commissions by charging them for revenues lost, for reasons like customers failing to pay or if their credit card charge was denied.
