Warner Brothers Timely Wages Class Action Lawsuit Overview:ย

  • Who: Greg Wilson filed a class action lawsuit against WB Studio Enterprises, Inc.ย
  • Why: Wilson claims Warner Brothers fails to provide timely payment to individuals who work on the companyโ€™s motion pictures.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.

Warner Brothers fails to lawfully provide timely payment to individuals who work on the companyโ€™s motion pictures, a new class action lawsuit alleges.ย

Plaintiff Greg Wilson claims Warner Brothers not only does not get workers their wages in a timely manner but also fails to provide required rest and meal periods.ย

Wilsons says he worked on two separate motion pictures for Warner Brothers and was not paid his wages in a lawfully timely manner either time.ย

โ€œThe Defendants had a duty to ensure that Plaintiff was properly paid the wages that he had been promised, but they failed to do so in timely fashion,โ€ the class action lawsuit states.ย

Wilson claims workers are also denied proper meal breaks and rest periods due to the fact that they were required to monitor their walkie talkies all day.ย

Workers have to keep their walkie talkies on and audible even during meal breaks and rest periods, Wilson argues, making them entitled to โ€œan additional thirty minutes of wages for each faux meal break.โ€ย

Workers Not Paid Properly Due To โ€œInsufficient Funding Of The Payroll Accounting Function,โ€ Plaintiff Claims

Wilson argues the reason workers are not paid properly is due to โ€œinsufficient funding of the payroll accounting functionโ€ and Warner Brothersโ€™ desire to โ€œmake such payments from funds received for each project from clients rather than from working capital.โ€ย

Wilson claims Warner Brothers has committed multiple violations, including of the Fair Labor Standards Act, various California Labor Codes and Californiaโ€™s Unfair Competition Law.ย

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting relief in the form of unpaid wages, damages and statutory penalties for himself and all class members.ย

In October, a separate complaint involving the motion picture industry was settled after Disney came to an agreement with actress Scarlett Johansson to end claims it violated her contract by immediately releasing its movie โ€œBlack Widowโ€ on its streaming service.ย
