UPDATE:

- Let Top Class Actions know when you receive a check in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
Safeway and other defendants have agreed to a $2.3 million settlement benefiting certain current and former employees.
The Class includes anyone who underwent a background check obtained by Safeway Inc. anytime between June 6, 2017, and Nov. 25, 2019, (the Safeway Subclass) or by The Vons Companies Inc., including the banner or trade name Pavilions, Vons Sherman Oaks, Safeway Southern California and/or Safeway Leasing, between Feb. 20, 2018, and Nov. 25, 2019 (the Vons Subclass).
Each Class Member will receive an equal payment from the settlement fund after court costs and other expenses are paid.
A class action lawsuit alleged the defendants had obtained background check reports on prospective employees, in violation of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and some related state laws.
The FCRA protects the consumer information reported to credit reporting bureaus such as Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
Under the FCRA, employers who pull credit reports on prospective employees must provide proper written notification as a standalone document and inform the job candidate negative information on those reports could result in them not getting the job.
In addition, employers who decide not to hire someone based on the information revealed by the credit report must notify the candidate of that decision and provide them with a copy of the report.
The court has not sided with either party in this case, and the defendants deny all legal claims against them.
Class Members who need to update their address may do so on the settlement website.
A final hearing in this case is scheduled for June 11, 2021.
Those wishing to opt out of or object to the settlement must do so by April 30, 2021.
The claim deadline also is April 30, 2021.

I want my money safeway
Hello I would like to know if I’m only getting one check or what.. my name is Diana
Here now it’s 04/2022 and I still haven’t received any money did anyone else actually get anything from this?
I just received a claim form in the mail for Me v. Safeway Claims Administrator. I’ve never worked at Safeway or Vons. I came here to find out why I’d be eligible for money from Safeway. After reading what the lawsuit is about, of course I’m not eligible. Why are they sending these forms out to just anyone. Some people are going to fill it out and send it back… diluting the amount of money that is awarded to people who deserve it.
They told my husband that he would get 163.00. We emailed them in October 14 th and they told us we would get it in a month. So, We are Praying we get it soon. We really need it.
Haven’t got my check yet
I have a Zelle payment from Safeway. Is this real? They want me to click on a link for payment. It is for $163.44
I received the same text I contacted my bank and they said that there was no sign of money pending from zelle
What crazy us based off of the amounts awarded to the Attorneys and case representatives, they end up getting more money than the actual victims in this lawsuit. That doesn’t seem fair at all.
Hi how did you find out about the amount did you receive the payout ?
They sent a email to my husband.
Any updates on this? I received an email to file a claim and did back in February of 21. When will we receive any mor information on this?
Has anyone received the payout yet?
