Amazon Discrimination Class Action Lawsuit Overview:ย
- Who: Jonathan Correll filed a class action lawsuit against Amazon.com, Inc.ย
- Why: The plaintiff alleges Amazon discriminates against straight, white male sellers.ย
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.ย
Amazon has blatantly created, advertised, marketed and employed several race-, sex- and LGBT status-based policies and programs for its website that entice, steer and direct consumers away from its disfavored sellers, who are heterosexual White males, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
โAmazonโs sexist policies and programs deny full and equal accommodations, advantages, privileges or services to sellers who unfortunately are male, non-binary or transgender men,โ the lawsuit states.
Plaintiff Jonathan Correll cites a section of Amazonโs website called โMinority Reportโ where two of the subcategories are titled โMisc. BOB [Black Owned Business] Productsโ and โBuy Black,โ pages that list everything from cosmetics and candles to supplements, tea, books, food, kitchenware, toothpaste and jewelry, all sold exclusively by Black sellers.
โThere is no equal webpage, section of Amazonโs website or program for sellers of other racial groups, i.e., there is no โBuy Latinx,โ โBuy Native American,โ โBuy Asianโ or โBuy Caucasian page,โ according to the lawsuit.ย
Class Action Lawsuit Claims Amazonโs Policies Are โRacistโ Against While Sellers
โA web page that promotes, highlights, showcases or otherwise increases the visibility of sellers and their products based solely on their race and denies equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges or services to members of every other race, is racist and violates California Civil Code sections 51 and 51.5,โ the complaint states.
The most brazen example of Amazonโs racist programs is the Black Business Accelerator program, which offers valuable business benefits to other Black sellers, no matter their wealth or success in business, according to the complaint.ย
โA program that provides financial assistance, business education and mentorship and marketing and promotional support to sellers of one race and denies equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges or services to members of every other race, is racist and violates California Civil Code sections 51 and 51.5,โ the complaint states.
In the 44-page complaint, Correll cites Amazonโs Seller Certification program, its link to shop Hispanic and Latino goods for Hispanic Heritage Month, its Guided Buying policy, its โDiscover Women-Owned Businessesโ webpage and more as examples of the alleged discrimination.ย
โAmazon reserves its worst discrimination and distaste for heterosexual White males despite the fact that its website trumpets โdiversity, equity and inclusion are good for business – and more fundamentally – simply right,โโ the complaint states.
Correll brings the lawsuit on behalf of himself and a class of heterosexual White males who experienced discrimination on Amazon.com. He seeks public injunctive relief against Amazon from engaging in the alleged unlawful practices; an order requiring Amazon officers and employees undergo diversity, inclusion and equity training; statutory damages; and attorneysโ fees.ย

They are just floundering. HR is so weak, they don’t even enforce basic decorum in the lunch room. You’ll overhear two way speakerphone bull crap between some baby mama and her brats, all in full volume. You never wanted to hear it. You’re on break. It would be bad enough if you heard one side of it. I don’t know why they don’t tell people that it’s not okay to bother everyone with their personal lives during break. That’s a pathetic and obvious piece of evidence that they either don’t care or are unable to control that. Either way, they are not doing a good job. It’s not a break, if a person can’t escape listening to another co-worker’s personal nonsense.
I am a straight White man who feels I have been discriminated against by Amazon. I would like more information regarding this lawsuit. Thank you!
Add me please
Letโs be real hereโฆ Amazon discriminates against any and everyone. They donโt discriminate on who they discriminate against.. Amazon is a discriminating company and Iโve been discriminated against by amazon for 16 months now and on many many levels yet despite proof they couldnโt care less.
I’m confused… are you the pathetic loser or is the white man? Or id it the guy that makes out with another guy?
