Cox Communications Unpaid Overtime Class Action Lawsuit

Cox CommunicationsCox Communications stiffs its service techs out of overtime, according to a federal class action lawsuit filed in Oklahoma.
 
The Cox Communications overtime class action lawsuit claims the telecommunications giant violates the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in numerous ways, including failing to pay its service technicians overtime pay, despite routinely requiring them to work more than 40 hours a week.
 
The overtime class action lawsuit also claims Cox Communications service techs are required to perform “integral and indispensable work activities throughout the day without receiving compensation,” including spending as much as 20 minutes a day logging in to their work computer to determine where they will be going first, and taking time out of their lunch hour to arrive at their next assignment and to call their next customer to let them know they are about 15 minutes away.
 
Also, at the end of the day, Cox service techs are required to bring all of their equipment to their home and charge it on their own time and electricity, without compensation, according to the overtime class action lawsuit.
 
“These activities constitute compensable work time under FLSA; however, Defendants refused and continue to refuse to provide Plaintiff, and other similarly situated employees and former employees, either minimum wage or overtime for these activities,” the Cox service tech class action lawsuit states.
 
The Cox Communications unpaid overtime class action lawsuit is seeking unpaid back wages at the applicable minimum wage and overtime rates, liquidated damages, attorney fees and court costs.

    I’ve worked for Cox for six years. I have never had this problem. I am always paid for my work, holidays, overtime, and any time spent preparing for my job. This shocks me to read.
