DoorDash has agreed to a $100 million settlement benefiting drivers who delivered through the DoorDash app in California and Massachusetts who claim they were improperly classified as contractors.
This settlement involves two Subclasses:
- The California Settlement Class is made up of anyone who entered into an agreement with DoorDash to use the DoorDash mobile app to offer delivery services to customers in California from Aug. 30, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2020, and performed at least one delivery in California during that period.. The California Class excludes all individuals who entered into separate settlement agreements with DoorDash to settle and release all their misclassification claims for the same period.
- The Massachusetts Settlement Class includes anyone in Massachusetts who entered into an agreement with DoorDash to use the DoorDash app to offer delivery services to customers in Massachusetts from Sept. 26, 2014, to March 31, 2021, and performed at least one delivery in the state during that period.
Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit alleged that DoorDash drivers were misclassified as independent contractors, and therefore the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other statutes.
Restaurant food delivery service DoorDash maintains it has done nothing wrong and that the workers’ classification as contractors was proper.
The Court has not ruled in favor of either party in this case.
DoorDash Settlement Benefits
After attorneys’ fees and other expenses are deducted, the remainder of the settlement fund will be used to pay Class Members who submit valid claims.
The funds will be allocated to Class Members proportionally based on their number of miles driven or traveled while completing deliveries through DoorDash.
Class Members will receive at least $10. The parties estimate the average settlement payment will be about $130, depending on the claim rate.
Any unclaimed funds will be re-distributed to Class Members who submit valid claims and whose second payment would be more than $20.
Payments will be made by paper check or electronically via PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle.
A final approval hearing in the DoorDash drivers settlement will be held Nov. 30, 2021.
The dispute deadline is Oct. 18, 2021.
The deadline to opt out of or object to the settlement is Nov. 1, 2021.
The deadline to file a claim also is Nov. 1, 2021.

I also never received a penny, and I also filed a claim
DoorDash is false advertising that they pay 2-10+ depending on distance, time, and desirability, they have been giving me long distance deliveries of over 10 miles and paying $2-$3 for each delivery. When I lived in pa this never happened since I moved to Florida I can’t even make a living off working for DoorDash. I have my proof to back it up and want the money that is owed to me.
We’re dealing with an app here folks. App and troubleshooting. Doordash even blames Google maps APP for sending you to wrong address FIVE MILES AWAY. Build an app that sues DoorDash.
The SUPERVISOR told me to pull up my phone navigation APP and double check each address, at MY EXPENSE.. js 😎😇🙏❤️
Where is my payment? I know I filed a claim
That screwed up I filed a claim and never got a penny and I work for DoorDash
