GNC has agreed to pay $6 million to resolve claims that its allegedly fake sales deceived consumers into believing items were being offered at a discounted price.
The GNC class action settlement will benefit consumers who purchased an item on sale or through a promotion from GNC.com between Jan. 1, 2012 and Sept. 9, 2019. Claimants can get a $5 cash benefit or $15 voucher for future purchases—no proof of purchase required. Additionally, some consumers will get a coupon for $30 off a $100 purchase.
Class Members who made more than five purchases will need to provide proof of purchase but will be eligible for an additional $5 cash benefit or $15 voucher. This additional award will also be available for consumers who purchased more than $100 in products.
The GNC class action settlement resolved three class action lawsuits which claimed that the nutrition company used fake sales to drive purchases on its website. According to the complaints, GNC portrayed their products as on sale despite allegedly never offering their products at the higher “original” price.
The false “original” prices shown online allegedly convinced consumers that they were getting a good deal – leading them to make purchases that they otherwise would not have.
In August, GNC and the plaintiffs came to an agreement to resolve the fake sale class action. Under the fake sale class action settlement, GNC will pay into a $6 million settlement fund which will go to Class Member awards, plaintiff service awards, attorneys’ fees, and various costs.
If consumers wish to recover compensation from the GNC class action settlement, they need to file a valid Claim Form by Nov. 23, 2019. The deadline for exclusion and objection is also Nov. 23, 2019. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Dec. 19, 2019.

Why did you expect otherwise? Honestly, I am 56 years old. My name has appeared on perhaps 25 class action cases. I used to file claims (last one was in 2006 or so). I have never seen a check for more than $4. At least half the time, the check arrived expired (printed right on the check was ‘void after 90 days’), or the check bounced (costing me $12).
As for GNC, they are in bankruptcy. You will never see your $6.
