Toyota issues recall for Sequoia Hybrid due to tow hitch cover issues

Toyota recalled more than 43,000 Sequoia Hybrid vehicles due to a safety concern involving the tow hitch cover, which may detach while driving.ย

The recall affects 2023-2024 model year Sequoia Hybrids equipped with a tow hitch cover manufactured between Aug. 23, 2022, and July 23, 2024. According to Toyota, the resin tow hitch cover, held by molded clips on the rear bumper, may not stay securely attached due to its design, potentially turning into a road hazard and increasing the risk of accidents.

Toyota will contact all known owners of the affected vehicles and offer a free repair under warranty, the recall notice states. The fix involves replacing the tow hitch cover with an updated version and modifying the rear bumper to accommodate the new part. Toyota will notify owners to bring their vehicles to a dealership for the repair by Oct. 19, 2024.

Potential salmonella contamination leads to egg recallย

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating a salmonella outbreak linked to a recent egg recall by Miloโ€™s Poultry Farms LLC, based in Wisconsin.ย

The recall involves eggs potentially contaminated with salmonella and has resulted in 65 illnesses reported across nine states. In a report, the CDC confirmed epidemiological, laboratory and traceback data all point to Miloโ€™s eggs as the source of the contamination.

Miloโ€™s distributed the recalled eggs to retail stores and foodservice distributors in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan, according to the recall notice. The recall affects all expiration dates, carton sizes and egg types labeled โ€œMiloโ€™s Poultry Farmsโ€ or โ€œTonyโ€™s Fresh Market,โ€ as well as any cases sold for foodservice.ย

Consumers should discard or return the eggs to their place of purchase and thoroughly clean any surfaces or utensils that may have been in contact with the eggs, the recall notice states.

Cantaloupes recalled in 5 states due to potential salmonella contamination

Eagle Produce LLC issued a recall for 224 cases of whole cantaloupes after routine testing by Michigan authorities revealed salmonella contamination.ย

Eagle distributed the recalled cantaloupes between Aug. 13 and Aug. 17, 2024, to retailers in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Virginia. Consumers can identify the affected product by a red and white sticker with the brand name โ€œKandyโ€ and the UPC code 4050 with lot number 846468.

While no illnesses have been reported, Eagle Produce urges customers to avoid consumption and immediately dispose of the recalled cantaloupe. For additional questions or concerns, customers can contact the company at 800-627-8674 during business hours Monday to Friday.ย

Costco recalls impact waffles, skirt steaks

Last month, Costco notified its members of two product recalls involving Kodiak Power Waffles and Rock River Cattle Co. Smokey Hibachi Skirt Steaks.ย

The Kodiak Power Waffles Buttermilk & Vanilla (40-count) were recalled due to potential contamination with soft plastic film, and the Rock River Cattle Co. skirt steaks were recalled because the product labeling failed to disclose allergens such as soy, wheat and sesame, according to the recall notices.

Costco advised members who purchased either of these products to return them to their local store for a full refund. Although no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with either recall, both Kodiak Cakes LLC and Skylark Meats LLC initiated the recalls out of caution, the recall notices say.ย

Ford recalls vehicles equipped with EcoBoost engines

Ford Motor Co. issued a recall for certain 2021-2022 vehicles equipped with 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engines.ย

The affected models include the Ford Bronco, Edge, Explorer and F-150, as well as the Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus. According to the recall, these engines may have intake valves prone to breaking, potentially leading to catastrophic engine failure and sudden loss of power. The recall notice advises drivers to look out for warning signs such as the check engine light and rough vehicle performance.

Ford urges owners of the impacted vehicles to bring them to dealerships for an engine cycle test, according to the recall notice. If necessary, dealers will replace the engine at no cost. Consumers who have already paid for engine repairs related to this issue may be eligible for reimbursement.ย

Although no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, Ford encourages affected owners to contact customer service or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for more information.

I purchased sliced cantaloupe from Publix in Fort Lauderdale, FL 2 days ago. Since they were packaged in a tray, thereโ€™s no way of knowing whether the cantaloupe itself was from the recalled list. I did not feel good after eating just one slice (stomach upset). Would the number you listed be able to tell me whether the product was from the states of distribution?

Iโ€™m in Deerfield Beach Florida & recently purchased Cantaloupe from the Publix on Military Trail, in the SwawGrass Promenade. Does the recall affect these areas??

  3. Terry says:

Yes I have purchased several of these. Waffles, cantaloupes and eggs.
