Pedigree dog food recall issued due to potential metal contamination

Mars Petcare US issued a recall for 315 bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food due to potential contamination with loose metal pieces. The affected product comes in 44-pound bags, marked with lot code 410B2TXT02 and a best-by date of March 4, 2025.

The recall notice says the loose metal pieces could pose a health hazard to pets, though Mars Petcare has not received any reports of pet injuries or illnesses. Consumers should stop using the product immediately, monitor pets who consumed the food for any unusual behavior and contact a veterinarian if any concerns arise.

Mars sold the bags at Walmart locations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, according to the recall notice. For more information, consumers can contact Mars Petcare directly at 1-800-525-5273 or visit their website

1.5M adult bed rails recalled following 2 deaths

Medline Industries recalled 1.5 million adult portable bed rails following incidents that led to two fatalities. The recall also affects 5,522 bed rails sold in Canada.

The recalled products pose a risk of entrapment and asphyxia, as users can become trapped within the rail or between the rail and the mattress, the recall notice states. The recall includes two models: the single model MDS6800BA and the three-pack model MDS6800BAH, both of which have “Medline” and the model number printed on a label located on the support frame near the vertical portion of the bed rail.

A 76-year-old woman in Iowa and an 87-year-old woman in South Carolina died as a result of the recalled bed rails, the recall notice states. Consumers should stop using the bed rails immediately and contact Medline at 866-359-1704 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday-Friday, by email at recalls@medline.com or online

Camera display defects lead to VW ID.4 recall

Volkswagen Group of America recalled nearly 80,000 Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles from model years 2021-2023 due to concerns that the rearview camera displays may fail to show an image or experience delays.

VW manufactured the vehicles between March 6, 2020, and Nov. 2, 2023, the recall notice says. The automaker equipped them with older software versions that lack certain bug fixes and robustness improvements.

The defective rearview camera display poses an increased risk of accidents or injuries when the vehicle is in reverse, according to the recall notice. To address this, Volkswagen is offering a free software update that includes necessary bug fixes and enhancements to prevent issues with the camera and dashboard display. It will notify owners of the recalled vehicles starting July 12, 2024.

Infant formula recall announced due to FDA noncompliance

Dairy Manufacturers recalled all lots of its infant formula because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allegedly did not properly inspect or evaluate the products.

The recall affects Crecelac Infant 0-12 (UPC 8 50042 40847 6), Farmalac 0-12 (UPC 8 50042 40841 4) and Farmalac 0-12 Low Lactose (UPC 8 50042 40839 1) with expiration dates of August and September, 2025, the recall notice states Dairy Manufacturers sells these products in 12.4-ounce aluminum cans packaged in cardboard.

The compliance issues arose after the FDA found Dairy Manufacturers had not submitted the required premarket notification, according to the recall notice.

There are no reports of illness linked to the recall; however, Dairy Manufacturers urges consumers to return the formula to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, consumers can contact Dairy Manufacturers at 972-347-2341 between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday.

Palmer Candy Co. updates recall to include additional items, best-by dates

Palmer Candy Co. recalled a range of white-coated confectionery items distributed to Walmart, HyVee, Target and Dollar General due to potential salmonella contamination.

The recall affects products sent to various states, including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming, according to the recall notice.

Palmer Candy initiated the recall after its liquid coating supplier alerted the company to possible contamination from one of its ingredient suppliers, the recall notice states. Since the initial May 15 recall, Palmer added more products and best-by dates to the recall list.

Although Palmer says it has not received reports of illness, it halted production of the affected products while it conducts an investigation with the FDA. Consumers should return the recalled items to the place of purchase. For more information, people can contact Palmer Candy at 800-831-0828 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
