Recall issued for portable chargers sold at Costco due to fire, burn risks

MyCharge recalled more than half a million portable chargers sold at Costco stores nationwide due to overheating risks, posing potential fire and burn hazards.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall June 20, targeting approximately 567,000 myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000 mAh portable chargers with model numbers AO10FK-A, AO10FK-B and AO10FK-C. This action follows 120 reports of the chargers overheating, some of which led to residential fires.

The recall notice says myCharge received five reports of incidents involving the chargers, including two residential fires causing an estimated $165,000 in property damage. Additionally, Costco received 115 returns with complaints of the chargers melting, expanding, smoking, catching fire, burning, exploding or sparking.

While no injuries requiring medical attention have been reported, consumers should stop using the recalled chargers immediately and contact MyCharge for a free replacement. Consumers can reach MyCharge at 888-251-2026, compliance@mycharge.com or through its website for further assistance.

Snapchill recalls canned coffee products due to potential botulism risk

A coffee production company recalled hundreds of canned coffee products sold under various brands nationwide due to a potential risk of deadly toxin growth.

The recall, announced June 20 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, affects Snapchill products distributed through various coffee roasters, retail locations and direct online purchases. The full list of recalled products and brands is available on the FDA website.

Snapchill initiated the recall when it found the low-acid canned foods could lead to the growth of botulinum toxin, which causes botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning that can result in symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, double vision and difficulty speaking or swallowing, according to the recall notice. Although no illnesses have been reported and Snapchill is not aware of any products containing the toxin, consumers should destroy or return the products for a full refund.

Toyota recall affects 13,000 Toyota Crown vehicles

Toyota is recalling approximately 13,000 model year 2023 Toyota Crown vehicles due to an issue with the camera display. Announced June 14, the recall notice says water can enter the frontview and rearview camera cases, potentially causing a short circuit and preventing certain images from displaying.

Although Toyota has not reported any injuries related to this issue, it is taking proactive measures to address it, according to the recall notice. The automaker will notify owners of potentially affected vehicles by mid-August 2024. Toyota dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair the affected cameras at no cost to the owners.

Stellantis recalls 1M+ vehicles due to rearview camera defect

Stellantis issued a recall for more than 1 million vehicles due to potential rearview camera failures, which could prevent the display of images when reversing.

The recall affects specific models, including 2022 Ram 1500 and 2500 pickup trucks, Ram 3500 pickup trucks with a cab chassis of less than 10,000 lbs, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer SUVs, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica vans, 2021-2022 Dodge Durango SUVs, 2022-2023 Ram Promaster vans and 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUVs

To address the issue, Stellantis will update the radio software in the affected vehicles to comply with federal rear visibility requirements, the recall notice states. The company will reimburse owners who have already paid for related repairs, provided they can supply proof of payment. Stellantis will begin sending notifications to dealers and vehicle owners around Aug. 2, 2024.

Vitamix expands recall for containers, bases due to laceration hazard

Vitamix expanded its recall of certain Vitamix Ascent Series and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and blade bases due to a laceration hazard.

The expanded recall now involves approximately 569,000 blending containers and blade bases in the United States and about 122,000 in Canada. This follows an initial recall in August 2018, which covered around 105,000 units.

The containers could separate from their blade base, exposing the blades, the recall notice states. Vitamix reported 27 incidents of laceration injuries, including 11 from the initial recall. Consumers should stop using the recalled containers and contact Vitamix for a free repair kit.

Vitamix sold the affected products nationwide at various retail locations and online from April 2017-May 2024 for $30-$990 when bundled with other products. For further information, consumers can contact Vitamix at 855-215-5178 or through the company’s website.
