Consumers should not consume the florets and should dispose of them immediately. Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, elderly people and those with weakened immune systems.

The recall includes John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with model numbers Z720E, Z730M, Z740R and Z760R equipped with Kawasaki engines. According to the recall notice, a voltage regulator in the affected mowers can fail, leading to the overheating issues.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact an authorized John Deere dealer to schedule a free repair, the recall notice states. Kawasaki reported five incidents of fires and 26 reports of melting or smoking involving the recalled mowers.

John Deere sold the mowers at authorized John Deere dealers nationwide from October 2018-September 2024 priced between $8,000-$11,500.

Ford dealers will perform a battery energy control module software update and replace the high-voltage battery pack if necessary free of charge, the recall notice states. The automaker says it expects to mail owner notification letters by Jan. 20, 2025.
