Perdue issues recall for chicken products due to metal contamination

Perdue Foods recalled approximately 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken breast nugget and tender products due to potential contamination with metal.ย

Consumers reported finding metal wire embedded in the chicken, prompting Perdue to notify the Food Safety and Inspection Service, according to the recall notice.

The recalled products include specific packages of Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets, Perdue Chicken Breast Tenders and Butcherbox Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets marked with a best-buy date of March 23, 2025, and bearing the establishment number P-33944.

Perdue distributed the chicken to retail locations nationwide and sold it online. Consumers who purchased the affected items should not consume them and should either discard the products or return them to the place of purchase.ย

Tesla issues recall for Model X vehicles due to roof trim defect

Tesla recalled more than 9,000 of its 2016 Model X vehicles due to a potential safety issue where roof cosmetic trim pieces could detach while driving, posing a crash hazard.ย

According to Tesla, the front and center roof trim pieces may not have been properly secured with primer, which could cause them to separate from the vehicle.

As a precaution, Tesla service workers will inspect the adhesion of the roof trim and reattach the pieces if necessary, free of charge, the recall notice states.ย

The company says it plans to mail owner notification letters by Oct. 14, 2024. Although Tesla is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue, it warns that if the trim detaches while driving, it could create a road hazard for other motorists, increasing the risk of a crash.ย

Ford announces recall for Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus vehicles due to window defect

Ford Motor Co. recalled more than 70,000 vehicles due to a potential safety issue where the windows may not stop closing when they detect an object.ย

Ford announced the recall Aug. 15, 2024. It affects approximately 70,483 model year 2024 Ford Ranger pickup trucks and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs.ย

According to the recall notice, when using the global closing feature, the windows may fail to automatically reverse after detecting an obstruction.

Ford attributes the defect to a software logic error in the driver and passenger door modules, which can cause the automatic reversal system to malfunction, potentially resulting in injury. The vehicles do not meet federal safety standards for power window systems, and drivers receive no warning if the system is compromised, the recall states. Ford says it will notify affected owners by mail starting Sept. 23, 2024, instructing them to visit a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the software updated at no cost.

Unilever initiates recall for Jolly Rancher popsicles due to undeclared milk

Unilever issued a recall for single-serve units of its Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pops due to trace amounts of milk allergens found in the product.ย

The recall affects only individually sold popsicles, commonly available in grab-and-go freezers, ice cream trucks and concession stands. The affected flavors are green apple, blue raspberry and grape, all marked with UPC 077567003720 and specific lot codes ranging from MAY1725KY4 to MAR1626KY4.

So far, Unilever received two reports of allergic reactions linked to the recalled popsicles. The company says consumers with affected items should visit www.PopsicleRecall.com or call 888-926-3554 for more information, and it will provide reimbursements with proof of purchase.ย

BMW issues recall for 720K vehicles over water pump issue

BMW of North America recalled more than 720,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire risk linked to the water pump connector.ย

The automaker announced the recall Aug. 13, 2024. It affects various models, including certain 2012-2015 X1, 2012-2016 Z4, 528i, 328i, 2016-2018 X5 and 2013-2017 X3 vehicles. The issue arises from an improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump that may be exposed to water, potentially leading to a short circuit, according to the recall notice.

To address this issue, BMW says dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector if needed and install a protective shield. It expects to mail notification letters by Oct. 4, 2024.ย
