Target initiates Threshold Glass candle recall due to laceration, burn hazard
On May 18, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published a recall for 4.9 million Threshold Glass Jar 5.5-ounce one-wick, 14-ounce three-wick and 20-ounce three-wick candles in multiple scents sold at Target stores. Target initiated the recall after it received 137 reports of the candle jars breaking or cracking during use, including six injuries.Â
Target sold the recalled candles at its stores nationwide and at target.com from August 2019 through March 2023 for between $3 and $20. Customers who purchased the candles should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to any Target store for a full refund.
Jeep Cherokee vehicles recalled due to fire risk
Chrysler recalled more than 132,000 model year 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokees after the manufacturer discovered the vehicles can catch fire even when the car is off. The recall was published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website May 11.
An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. As of April 27, 2023, FCA US had identified 50 customer assistance records, 23 warranty claims and 21 field reports potentially related to the issue.
Owners should park their vehicles outside and away from structures and other vehicles until the recall is remedied.
GM recalls various SUV models due to airbag issue
General Motors (GM) initiated a recall for 994,763 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia vehicles from model years 2014 to 2017 over concerns the vehicles’ airbags may rupture. The driver’s airbag inflator may explode during deployment, which could send sharp metal fragments into the cabin of the vehicle, potentially causing serious injury or death.
GM will mail owner notification letters in late June.
Under the recall, dealers will replace the driver’s airbag unit for free.Â
Pilot COVID-19 At-Home Tests recalled due to potentially harmful bacteria
On May 5, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published a recall for SD Biosensor’s Pilot COVID-19 At-Home Tests after finding potentially harmful bacteria in them. The over-the-counter antigen test, which uses a nasal swab sample, can be identified by the lot number on the outer packaging and should be appropriately discarded.Â
Individuals performing the self-test may run the risk of direct contact with the contaminated liquid in the tube. Direct exposure to the liquid through misuse or spillage could potentially lead to serious illness.
If the liquid in the tube contacts your skin and eyes, flush with large amounts of water and, if irritation persists, seek medical attention.
Walker Edison Furniture recalls bunk beds due to fall risk
Walker Edison Furniture recalled around 121,000 of its Twin Over Twin Bunk Beds over concerns that wooden slats supporting the bunk beds can break, presenting both fall and impact hazards.
Walked Edison received 14 separate reports of the bunk bed slats breaking, with one report of a minor injury, according to a recall the CPSC published May 4.Â
Consumers who own the recalled Walker Edison bunk beds should immediately stop using them and contact the company to receive a free repair kit, which will come with new wooden slats and instructions.Â
