Sprouts has recalled some of its gyro kits as they may contain cucumbers that could be contaminated with Salmonella.
Select lots of Gyro Family Kits were recalled from Sprouts stores on Dec. 6 after the company was alerted by its supplier, Reser’s Fine Foods Inc., of potential Salmonella contamination within the cucumbers in the tzatziki sauce.
The recall comes amid a wider recall of cucumbers in 26 states and Canada, over concerns they may also have been contaminated with salmonella.
The Sprouts recall applies to its Gyro Family Kit with UPC 20594800000 and Use by Dates of 12/29/24-01/07/25, packaged in plastic trays with clear plastic lids.
The recalled gyro kits were distributed to Sprouts stores in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, frail or elderly people, and other people with weakened immune systems, the recall states. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
No illnesses have been reported to date in relation to the recalled gyro kits, the company said.
“Customers who purchased these items are urged not to consume them and dispose of them or return them to their local store for a full refund,” the recall says.

Very concerned about this kit as I’ve purchased multiple times for my family.
Regularly purchase Sprouts Gyro kit. My local Sprouts never advertised the Salmonella recall. The Gyro, Meatloaf and Salmon ready made meals have been such a popular weekend meal option for my family.
